The Firm

GLX LTM and Associates was founded in Guimaraes (Portugal), on May the 2nd 1989 by Gama Lobo Xavier and Luis Teixeira e Melo and it was then named, Gama Lobo Xavier and Luis Teixeira e Melo - Law Firm.

Its genesis embodies a long and deep professional and personal relationship between the two founding members, beginning in the second half of the Seventies, which extended and deepened to direct descendents and gradually, but firmly, opened to new partners and associates.

Currently the Law Firm has as partners: Luis Teixeira e Melo, Gonçalo Gama Lobo, Luis Filipe Teixeira e Melo, Francisco Gama Lobo Xavier, Rui Teixeira e Melo, Hugo Costa e Silva, Maria Emília Meira and Margarida Machado.
As associates: José Pinto de Almeida, Mónica Moreira Soares and Belmiro Pinto dos Santos.
As consultants: Gama Lobo Xavier and João Augusto Martins.
The Firm has four administrative clerks and eleven trainee lawyers.

The growth of GLX LTM is guided by an ever demanding ethical conduct and procedures to meet the expectations of our clients and the quest for technical and scientific expertise of partners and collaborators.

In 2007 GLX LTM started the implementation of a quality system management under the "provision of law" according to NP EN ISO 9001:2000; in December 2008 the system was recognized and certified by SGS - ICS - Certification PT08/02621,
In December 2009 we were again certified, now according to standard NP EN ISO 9001:2008.

In 2008 GLX LTM established a partnership with PLMJ, a law firm known for excellence, benefiting, either by direct access, either through joint training, knowledge and experience of the vast body of knowledge and practice of PLMJ professionals.

We also benefit from the network of contacts from other partners by extending the geographical coverage area across the country and in most countries and territories with which Portugal maintains commercial and financial links.

The GLX LTM has supported several actions in PRO BONO, thereby assuming their social responsibility to the community.

We are all are committed to improve our legal and paralegal services aimed at client satisfaction by ensuring the rights, freedoms and guarantees, the client's confidentiality and secrecy, the proper enforcement and administration of Justice, integrity, independence, respect for provisions of the Statute of the Bar Association and loyalty to the judiciary community.

In a technical and scientific approach, in July 2010 GLX LTM signed with a top Portuguese University - Universidade Portucalense - a Cooperation Protocol aiming to provide students of Law Department direct contact with the reality of the career and establish with the University knowledge and skills exchange.

GLX LTM in April of 2011 signed with ELSA - The European Law Student’s Association and Universidade do Minho, a Cooperation Protocol which publishes the STEP - Student Trainee Exchange Programme.

For GLX LTM it is a duty and a privilege to be among the scientific community of the University, giving its contribution to the scientific debate, increasingly important in an ever changing world.
